1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Dear Diary. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Dear Diary mobile application ("App," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
2. Description of the App
Dear Diary is a private, offline-first journaling application for Android devices. The App allows you to:
- Create and manage daily diary entries with text, images, videos, and audio
- Track your moods with detailed notes and timestamps

All data is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. The App operates entirely offline and does not require an internet connection or user account.
3. User Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use Dear Diary. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18 years of age, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian to ensure you both understand them.
4. License to Use the App
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on your personal Android device solely for your personal, non-commercial use.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App

6. Local-Only Data and Disclaimers
No Cloud Storage or Backup
Dear Diary stores all data locally on your device only. We do not provide cloud storage, automatic backups, or data synchronization across devices. It is your responsibility to:
- Protect your device from loss, theft, or damage
- Create manual backups of your data using the export feature if desired
- Understand that uninstalling the App will permanently delete all local data
Data Loss
We are not liable for any loss of User Content due to device failure, accidental deletion, software updates, operating system changes, or any other cause. You acknowledge that you use the App at your own risk and that you are responsible for maintaining your own backups.
7. Device Permissions
The App may request certain permissions to enable specific features:
- Camera: To capture photos or videos for your diary entries
- Microphone: To record audio notes
- Storage / File Access: To attach media files from your device and save exported reports
- Biometric Authentication: To enable fingerprint or face unlock for app access
These permissions are requested only when you use the related features and do not allow the App to transmit any data off your device. You can manage or revoke permissions at any time through your device settings.
8. No Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- Warranties that the App will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted
- Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content or data
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US FOR THE APP (IF ANY).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Dear Diary and its developers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use or misuse of the App
- Your User Content
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of a third party
11. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device. Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all local data stored by the App.
We reserve the right to discontinue the App or modify its features at any time without prior notice. If we discontinue the App, these Terms will remain in effect for any continued use of the App.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or our business practices. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and post the updated Terms within the App.
Your continued use of the App after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through good faith negotiation. If a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Dear Diary regarding your use of the App and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
