FAQ
Straight answers for a private app.
Can I use Dear Diary without internet?
Yes. Journaling works offline. Map tiles and Play Billing need connectivity when those features are used; your diary content is not uploaded to our servers.
Does Dear Diary use my location?
Only if you choose Trace Path or a habit place reminder. See the Location section on the Privacy Policy. You can use Moments Only and skip place reminders.
Does it read my Health Connect data?
Only if you link a Premium habit and grant Health Connect. Read-only; stays on device. Details in the Health Connect section.
Is Companion AI?
No. Companion is a local guide library and optional tips. It does not read your entries and is not a chatbot.
Does Dear Diary read my diary?
No. Mood insights and reflections run on your device. Nothing you write is sent to us for analysis.
What happens if I forget my password?
Only your recovery phrase can restore access. The developer cannot recover your data — we never had access to it.
Is my backup safe?
Yes. Encrypted backups are user-made, protected by a password you set, saved to a folder you choose. We do not host them. There is no cloud sync product.
What is Premium? Is it a subscription?
Premium is a one-time unlock for unlimited Story Mode journeys, Daily Glimpse, habits extras, unlimited notes, encrypted backup, premium narration, and more. It is not a subscription.
Is Dear Diary available on iPhone?
No. Dear Diary is Android-only on Google Play.
